Guillermo Fernandez, 77, of Coral Springs, FL passed away peacefully with family at his side on December 29, 2016. He was born in Union de Reyes, Cuba on January 19, 1939 to Mercedes and Manuel Fernandez.

Known as “Nene” or “Willie,” he was proud of both his Cuban roots and his American citizenship. After his retirement, he moved to South Florida to be close to his grandchildren. His favorite pastime was watching thoroughbred horse races and sharing endless laughter with his grandchildren.

Guillermo is survived by his wife, Julia, of 48 years; children, Guillermo Fernandez, Blanca (Luis) Alvarez, and Mercedes (Thomas) Vazquez; and his grandchildren, Gina and Lia Alvarez, T.J., Jessica, Alyssa, and Jason Vazquez. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Humberto Fernandez, Aracely Alvarez, and Murusa Fernandez.
