Obituary for
Yusuf "Nick" Ali
Yusuf Ali, fondly known as Nick, departed this world and went home on Saturday, after 65 years on August 12, 2017. Nick was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. After attendance at John Jay High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. When Nick returned home he followed his heart and opened a small auto parts store in the very block he grew up on, Vanderbilt Avenue. After learning the trade, he joined Ford Motor Company where he shared his love for the auto industry and made hundreds of friends with his endearing personality in customer service where he remained for 30 plus years.
Nick married his beautiful wife Amalia Caraballo in 1971 and shortly after, they were the proud parents of Lisette. Nick also was the loving father of his youngest daughter Nichole Ali. Nick as a young man loved Karate, and transitioned into less rigorous sports like handball and an expert shooter on the pool table where most who challenged him paid the ultimate price of defeat usually, after they were allowed the first shot.
Nick loved the oldies but goodies music; Elvis Presley and Tom Jones ranked high on that list. Nick devoted his life to the Catholic Church where he often spoke of his loving church family. Nick was fondly called “Yus” or “Fufi” by his siblings and just the mention of those names would elicit that unforgettable smile and laughter we will all miss.
Nick is predeceased by his father Fazil Ali and his oldest brother Amir Ali. Yusuf leaves behind his heart broken mother Anna Ali, his twin brother Mohammed, three sisters Saadia, Zeinab and Fauzia. His beautiful children Lisette Ali Montague, Nichole Ali, grandchildren, Aminah, Collin, Ahmad, Isabel and Aza.
