Obituary for Jean Devine

Jean Devine
Jean Elizabeth DeWitt Cullen Devine made her journey to heaven at 3:33pm on February 28, 2017. She was born in Manhattan, N.Y., lived in New Rochelle N.Y, and retired in South Florida. Jean had a magnetic personality and was loved by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing cards, entertaining, volunteering, and spending time with her family and friends. Jean loved to draw and was very artistic.

Jean was a loving mother of seven children: Stephen, Virginia, Barbara, Thomas, John, Paul and SuzAnne. She was blessed with twelve beautiful grandchildren, Ryan, Liza, Daniel, Peter, Jesse, Philip, Robbie, David, Caroline, Joey, Madeleine, and Raina. Her great-grandchildren are Charlotte, Dominic, Quentin, Seamus, and Ryan Jr. Jean is further survived by her sister Barbara. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Gladys Cullen as well as her husband Dr. Elbridge James Devine, whom she was married to for 35 years.

Jean was a graduate of Endicott College and employed as a fashion designer as well as a legal secretary. Jean was a wonderful and devoted mother who spent most of her time chauffeuring, tutoring, mentoring and guiding her children. She also spent time volunteering at the hospital, the airport and as an usher at the theatre. Her love for travel brought her to Europe several times and across the U.S. She played golf for many years and was a member of Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, NY.

Jean was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers Jean's family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America to promote Alzheimer's Research.
