Obituary for
Dina Duvalsaint
Dina Duvalsaint, 91, of Margate, FL passed away on June 25, 2016. She was born in Haiti; one of twelve children to Gentilhomme and Eutepcie. She was a caretaker by heart, moving back home and forgoing school to help raise her siblings after her mother passed when she was sixteen. She oversaw and ran the house, began her own sewing trade, and was a teacher for a short time.
Over the years her business flourished as her siblings moved on to their own work, and after emigrating to the United States in 1962 she became a lab technologist in Brooklyn, earning her degree while working night classes and working through the day. Her hard word and dedication to the profession lead her to become a Laboratory Supervisor, a position she held until her retirement in Florida.
Dina is survived by her brothers and sisters, Dr. Andre (Emmeline) Duvalsaint, Henry Duvalsaint, and Jules (Gisele) Duvalsaint, Murat (Lucienne) Excellent, Vierge Excellent, and Elia (Hebert) Coffy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Viewing hours will be held on Friday July 1st, 2016 at Coral Springs Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew Catholic Church at 10am on Saturday July 2nd, 2016.
